Her father is bedridden with full-blown AIDS. Once employed at a lodge, he is now unable to work due to his condition. Clara’s mother does her best to support the family by selling handmade baskets, but her income is sporadic and insufficient to meet their needs.

They live in Nkwenda, near the craft area outside the park gates, where opportunities are limited.
